Our Mission
To create a culture of movement where all community members have the confidence, competence, enthusiasm, and inclusive opportunities to be physically active and healthy throughout life.
Maple Ridge is motivated to be leaders with physical literacy implementation and are investing resources in developing a long-lasting change related to physical literacy.
Example of milestones
Sport
- Create a rotating multi-sport program for children and youth in the community.
- Create a rotating multi-sport program that focuses on parent participation.
- Offer educational workshops that focus on Physical Literacy and Long Term Athlete Development.
Recreation
- Offer development opportunities for the community, Recreation Leaders, Sport Coaches and teachers.
- Obtain adaptive sport equipment to provide more inclusive programming.
- Increase female participation in Recreation programs by 5%.
- Provide opportunities for female participation in sport for ages 14Y-18Y.
Health
- Create Community Activation Physical Literacy stencils.
- Create step by step Physical Literacy A-Frames to use as educational tools at events.
Education
- Participate in Coaches Mentoring Elementary School Teachers (CMEST).
- Offer Adaptive Sport opportunities to classes.
